Introducing Artist, Ingrid Style

Author: Christina - Published 2025-03-16 10:44 - (6559 Reads)

Artist, INGRID STYLE

Ingrid Style was born in England and spent her formative years in Brazil before pursuing her art studies at the Ontario College of Art.

Her focus has been the human figure, and her work reflects the magical and whimsical graphic expressions of great English artists such as Aubrey Beardsley, Charles Ricketts and Arthur Rackham. Some of Style's larger works are coloured with a tropical brilliance that recalls Byzantine mosaics and the paintings of Gustave Klimt.

In her drawings, expressive faces and figures emerge from entwined volutes and entanglements suggesting the struggle of birth as well as the search for release from anguish.

BAGLADY: A retrospective romp through the hazardous sixties, austere seventies, bleak eighties, and leaner meaner nineties. Ashley confronts her ‘Snakes & Ladders’ existence with dark humour and ironic detachment. It's a down-at-heel memoir imbued with the desolate ghost-beauty of the city, both ruin — and renaissance-in-waiting.

FESTIVAL DU MONDE ARABE DE MONTREAL, 25 octobre - 23 novembre 2024

Author: Christina - Published 2024-10-16 21:09 - (1756 Reads)

A WORD FROM THE AUTHOR
Life is not exactly predictable, but Fate always takes care of our Destiny. Who would have thought that, one day, I’d leave the Communist paradise behind, travel the World all over and end up not only as a radio broadcaster, but writing books about a Transylvanian folk hero of the 18th Century. I followed his traces in Transylvania, India, the Himalayas, Ladakh and the border region with China. Fate also led me to Sikkim and Tibet proper to investigate, to see how the locals live and what kind of facts I could find about him 200 years later.

Well, you can read all about my great adventure in this corner of the planet: the unexpected physical and spiritual highs. The discovery of the local people's kindness, helpfulness, their culture, history and values, their native healing art and astrology; also their humility and bravery, all rooted in the mists of Time. The investigation resulted in many discoveries about Tibet and enriched my life tremendously on many levels. It could help you, too. Despite the old saying, “Curiosity killed the cat,” a healthy curiosity leads to discoveries, and knowledge is power. Enjoy!
