Invitation to writers of children's books

We are in the planning stages of organizing a reading series for pre-schoolers to be held monthly at a children's hairstyling salon in Pointe Claire. Authors of children's books and performers are invited to read from their works and display their books for sale at the store. The aim of this project is to add an interesting and educational activity for the young clients and raise funds for a charitable children's cause.

OTHER PEOPLE'S PROBLEMS, Theatre Ste-Catherine, November 4-8, 2009

OTHER PEOPLE'S PROBLEMS

written by DeAnne Smith, Sarah Quinn & Samuel Booth
Performed by Sarah Quinn

Following killer seasons in Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney, Australia; Montreal-based Aussie performer Sarah Quinn brings her highly popular solo show, “OTHER PEOPLE'S PROBLEMS”, to Theatre Ste. Catherine for 6 shows only! A darkly comedic response to the ever-expanding self-improvement industry, OTHER PEOPLE'S PROBLEMS is three short plays, by three different authors, all concerned with one singularly modern phenomenon: “ISSUES”. Advice is a hot commodity, and these characters know it. Their questionable philosophies will leave you questioning yours. Hey, we all got problems, man.

“Beautifully written, balancing some darker lessons with a healthy dose of humour...Sarah Quinn is magnificent" -The Adelaide Advertiser

Introducing the Ensemble Nu:n, Canadian debut Concert, October 25th, 2009

Author: Christina - Published 2009-10-07 12:53 - (3722 Reads)
Introducing our upcoming concert, the likes of which Montreal has never heard. Ensemble nu:n’s music is a synthesis of medieval song and modern improvisation, bridging the gap between the roots of Western music and the here and now; the German term nun (“now”, pronounced nu:n) here evokes the singular moment of improvisation. The early music expert voices of Katherine Hill and myself fuse together with the energetic and virtuoso saxophone playing of Gert Anklam (from Berlin, Germany) and the atmospheric and stirring sounds of guitarist and ensemble founder Falk Zenker (Weimar, Germany). Timeless music - at once full of meditative calm and swelling emotion, subtle friction and playful lightness - which resounds throughout the space in which it is heard.

Mark the date for this very special event:
Ensemble nu:n for the first time in Canada!
October 25th at 6:15pm at the St.Matthias Church in Westmount. Tickets: $15 / $10 (students, seniors).
