Every once in a while, one comes across a story that becomes of great importance to the self and the collective. Every once in a while, one discovers an actor that has the innate ability to manifest that story. I found that story, its writer and the actor all in one package. A privilege, indeed. Collaboration is a meeting of hearts and minds. The partnership of script, actor and director is here in “A Perfect Picture” that tells the tragic story of a South African war photographer Kevin Carter, who in 1994, won the Pulitzer Prize for an iconic photo of the famine in Sudan. UNESCO World Book and Copyright Day, 23 April 2016
Published 2016-04-08 15:14 - (2569 Reads) -"Literacy is the door to knowledge, essential to individual self-esteem and empowerment. Books, in all forms, play an essential role here." Irina Bokova, Director General, UNESCO
23 April is a symbolic date for world literature. It is on this date that the birth and deaths occurred of prominent authors. (Shakespeare, Cervantes, et al.) It was a natural choice for UNESCO's General Conference, held in Paris in 1995, to pay a world-wide tribute to books and authors on this date, encouraging everyone, and in particular young people, to discover the pleasure of reading and gain a renewed respect for the irreplaceable contributions of those, who have furthered the social and cultural progress of humanity.
In this regard, UNESCO created World Book and Copyright Day.
On Saturday, April 23rd, 2016, at 1:30 pm, LEN RICHMAN will be the featured writer to speak at the Pointe Claire Library celebrating UNESCO’S World Book and Copyright Day.
The Advisory Board and Friends of the Library representatives will be giving out roses on that day.

An Unconventional Memoir of an Unplanned Journey
If, according to Socrates, the unexamined life is not worth living, is the converse always true? When a person has actively embraced life, living it to the fullest, is there time for philosophical musings, looking backward, contemplating the meaning, and sharing with generations to come? The answer is yes, as the new memoir, Raindrops Glimpses Moments clearly demonstrates. With the same exuberant energy that supported Len Richman in his worldwide travels, academic pursuits, friendships, and family life, the author reflects and shares his personal examination of his life and the lives that have touched his...
