The Arthur Ellis Awards are awarded annually for excellence in Canadian Crime Writing in the following categories: Best Novel, Best First Novel, Best Short Story, Best Non-Fiction, Best Juvenile, Best French Language Book, and Best Unpublished First Novel (AKA “The Unhanged Arthur”). Past winners include Louise Penny, Peter Robinson, Giles Blunt, Carol Shields, William Deverell, Ann Lamontagne, Rosemary Aubert, Barbara Fradkin, and others
