Random Thread is a fledging theatre company founded by Alison Louder. She’s played major roles in several #1 plays on the Mirror’s Best Of Montreal poll – Dracula, Heaven, The Elusive and Into The Woods – and was voted #6 Best Actress in BOM in 2008 and 2009, with an honorable mention in 2010. Alison has been participating in the development of new Canadian works at Playwrights’ Workshop Montreal and the National Theatre School of Canada since 2008, and took on her first job assistant directing and producing a highly successful production of Speak Truth To Power last year, which inspired her to start playwriting as well. She wrote her first one-woman play, Hot Pink, with the dramaturgical support of Jeremy Taylor, Mike Hughes and emerging director Heidi Hawkins (Hippies and Bolsheviks, Danny and the Deep Blue Sea). Having last performed on stage in 2008’s Dracula, this marks a comeback for Alison, a well-known local actress and emerging musician whose work in the arts now spans close to a decade.

HOT PINK
Meet eighteen year-old Lindi: orphan, runaway, hermit. She lives in a cave on the edge of town, barely surviving on a steady diet of coffee, insomnia and denial. She’ll spin you tales of utopia on a dust particle, of love shattered like broken glass and of her alternate self, in the wee hours of the morning during a passing storm. What at first appears to be the ideal escape is ruptured when the frightening truth behind Lindi’s dream world comes to light. With only a teddy bear, a book and the voices in her head to give her strength, Lindi must face the music or spiral deeper into madness. A dark comedy disguised as an ode to lost souls, Hot Pink will tickle your inner child…Playing at the Portuguese Association – Venue #7 – 4170 Boul. St-Urbain
