Expozine is Montreal's annual small press, comic and zine fair. This incredible event brings together nearly 300 different creators of all kinds of printed matter - from books to zines to visual art and comics - in both English and French. In the past seven years, Expozine has grown to become Canada's largest small press fair, attracting thousands of visitors as well as exhibitors from as far afield as New York, Toronto, Halifax, Ottawa, and Quebec City.

At Expozine, you can discover a multitude of publications that can be difficult to find in the first place, much less altogether in the same room! The result is a rare opportunity to peruse the work of hundreds of young and emerging authors, publishers and artists, and to see what the winners of last year's Expozine Alternative Press Awards are up to. Short Film competition on Radio Canada International's website

Each film deals with an aspect of the theme of immigration and they come from all parts of the world. None is longer than 9 minutes and there are some real gems. For people who didn't get a chance to see any of these short films at the Montreal International World film festival, or to see my own short "A Spanish Tale" here's a chance to see them ON-LINE.
During the following week 10 English and 10 French films will be on-line for people to view and vote towards the selecting 5 in each category to go to the semi-finals. Hope you'll enjoy these films and come back to see the final selection in a week.

After providing a fleeting respite, however, it will go on to inflict horrendous evil.

In the aftermath of a catastrophe, it is beneficial for a nation’s people to recite the twenty-third Psalm; yet it is far preferable that they should live in such fashion that these catastrophes do not occur. God did not refrain from saving a handful of souls during the destruction of Sodom. However, His Son has said that, unless we change our hearts, we will perish like the people of the Galilee (Luc 13, verses 1 to 5).

Nanowrimo is NAtional NOvel WRIting MOnth, the challenge to write a first draft of a 50,000 word novel in the month of November. It's possible to do even if you have a full-time job, but it is not easy. There's an informal group of Montreal-area nanowrimo-ers getting together once a week during October and November to talk problems out, assist and encourage one another, commiserate, and have fun. Currently we are meeting on Wednesday evenings at about 7PM in the Second Cup in Central Station.

Infinithéâtre’s highlights another Québecois writer, introducing Anglophones to the award-winning Carole Fréchettte in the Montréal English language première of John and Béatrice at the Bain St-Michel, running from October 16 through November 9. Love, that little, four-letter word, mysterious and elusive, evoking a myriad of complex and confusing emotions, with as many definitions as there are people. We want it, crave it, seek it yet also shun it, hide from it or run as far from it as possible. With a season focussing on three themes, Love, Hope and Faith, Infinitheatre’s production of John & Béatrice will be taking a look at love from an unusual vantage: a vacant room on the 33rd floor of a city skyscraper!

Spectacle de commedia dell’arte drôle et pétillant suivi du concert qui vous introduira dans un univers personnel où se côtoient mélodieusement humour et poésie. Première d’un spectacle inédit, avec LINA MAIORANO, une show girl incroyable en première partie et en deuxième partie le quintette LIBERTÀ qui a réuni des artistes provenant des milieux musicaux différents, tels que classique, rock, mystique ou musique du monde : SHOLA (voix, guitare et tambour indien) CLAUDIE GAGNON (flûte) ÉRIC THÉ (guitare, cavaquinho, percussions et arrangements musicaux), JACQUES FIORE (accordéon et percussions) et RICHARD WYCE (violoncelle).
