Union United Church 100th Anniversary
MAKING A JOYFUL NOISE TO CELEBRATE “100 YEARS OF FAITH”
March 20, 2007….On Sunday, April 15, 2007 The Union United Church will welcome Her Excellency The Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada, to its Film-Gospel-Jazz event to be held at Theatre Maisonneuve, Place Des Arts, as part of its 100th Anniversary celebration.
This Documentary Film World Premiere “100 Years of Faith” produced by Anthony Sherwood, an award-winning filmmaker and one of Canada’s most successful Black film actors, takes the audience on an amazing journey through the rich history of the Union United Church and the immense historical impact it has had on the City of Montreal.
Everyone is invited to attend.
Performing at the event is Jazz Legend Oliver Jones, who is a product of Union United Church, Singer Sylvie Desgroseilliers and the Union United Church Mass Choir, comprising of 100 voices, making a joyful noise to celebrate the 100th “Anniversary of Union United Church. The audience is expected to be made up of Government Officials, VIP visitors from across Canada and a wide cross-section of Montrealers

“For the past 100 years, Union United Church has been the social conscience, cultural fulcrum, centre of community action and activism and artistic haven of the indigenous and immigrant Black population of Montreal. We are very proud of our past,” says Ms Erene Anthony, Co-Chair of the 100th Anniversary Committee.
The first and oldest Black Church congregation in Montreal is dedicated to sharing its inspiring “Proud Past – Bright Future” and strives to continue its mission to “tell the next generation of the glorious deeds of the Lord”.
