MONTREAL May 2005 – For Dynamic Theater Factory's (DTF) seventh annual Original Works Premiere, join them as they explore what fuels man’s many different belief systems, from persuasion to conviction. This fast-paced show features 14 of Montreal’s most talented and promising young actors, aged 10-20, during an exclusive 4-show engagement at the Centaur Theatre.
Beliefs are a series of agreements. Since the beginning of time, varied belief systems have influenced man’s personal and spiritual perception of the world around him. DTF will look at secular beliefs and how they unite all people through a similar universal message, yet how they equally divide us all, through their individual ideologies, teachings and doctrines. Matern explains the currency of the show, “In a world quickly moving towards global unity, this theme is an extremely relevant one to ponder.” She continues, “We shall also look at beliefs as a creative tool, manifested through the simple power of thought. These thoughts can drive us to success or drive us elsewhere...”
Montreal’s premier training ground for actors of all ages, DTF is an innovative, creative development centre with a solid track record of success. The school is a wonderful cultural cauldron for kids from all backgrounds and cultures. Though focussed on acting, the participants explore much deeper issues, examining their own belief systems and those of others. The school also develops trust and a true bond between all who attend along with offering a constructive outlet for kids' energy. Each year members land agents and jobs in theatre, film and television.
Artistic Director Anik Matern finds the experience especially rewarding, “It's incredibly nourishing to work alongside so many passionate and professional young people.” The young company is honoured to be part of this rewarding experience. Cast member Jenny Wong confers, “Thanks to my experience at DTF, I now have the confidence to embrace both myself and my love for acting without any judgment or doubt.” DTF’s past Original Works Dreams, Obsessions, Electric and Temptations have served as a springboard to success for upcoming stars Emily Van Camp (The Ring Two), Ricky Mabe, Joyce Quansah (Kids' CBC Television Host), Meaghan Rath (now in her third season of the television series 15/Love), Jay Baruchel (Million Dollar Baby), Amanda Tilson, Shawn McPherson and Jesse Camacho to name a few.

Anik Matern - Artistic Director/Founder/Director: Having taught, performed and directed in Canada and France, Matern brings invaluable on-camera, on-stage and behind-the-scenes experience to DTF. An accomplished actor, Matern has served as acting consultant and coach for several television projects. Her list of credits include lead and principal roles in numerous productions and series for Cinar/ Nickelodeon TV, CBC, YTV and Fox, as well as lending her voice to numerous animation series.
