INVISIBLE CITIES NETWORK MILESTONES
Christina Manolescu and Cristina Perissinotto founded a Montreal Writers' and Self-Publishers' group, INVISIBLE CITIES NETWORK, in 2001.
On April first, 2001, we set up our original writers’ group based on the Plateau de Montréal. The intention was to reach out to emerging and actual self-publishers in Montreal. From there we evolved into a grassroots ‘indie’ movement, attracting independent artists of all disciplines: writing, publishing, drama, Spoken word, music, sculpture, film, photography, graphic arts, fine arts, and more.
Soon, ICN began to stage Spoken Word, cabaret performances and literary events. Hundreds of artists and writers attended an estimated 65 meetings over the years. A mix of students, professional artists, employed and self-employed people, as well as retirees, who share an interest in—often a passion for—literature, music, art, writing, self-publishing and/or collaborative performing.
The two founders, along with writer NAT Grant, hosted the ICN 2005 Book & Creative Arts Conference at FACE School Auditorium, Montreal, Quebec.
