A WORD FROM THE AUTHOR
Life is not exactly predictable, but Fate always takes care of our Destiny. Who would have thought that, one day, I’d leave the Communist paradise behind, travel the World all over and end up not only as a radio broadcaster, but writing books about a Transylvanian folk hero of the 18th Century. I followed his traces in Transylvania, India, the Himalayas, Ladakh and the border region with China. Fate also led me to Sikkim and Tibet proper to investigate, to see how the locals live and what kind of facts I could find about him 200 years later.Well, you can read all about my great adventure in this corner of the planet: the unexpected physical and spiritual highs. The discovery of the local people's kindness, helpfulness, their culture, history and values, their native healing art and astrology; also their humility and bravery, all rooted in the mists of Time. The investigation resulted in many discoveries about Tibet and enriched my life tremendously on many levels. It could help you, too. Despite the old saying, “Curiosity killed the cat,” a healthy curiosity leads to discoveries, and knowledge is power. Enjoy!
LAMB ASTRAY, A memoir by Suzanne Jane Hughes
Published 2024-01-04 22:11 - (1456 Reads) -Between 1870 and the late 1930s more than 100,000 children from orphanages and ‘homes’ in the British Isles were sent to ‘distribution homes’ in Canada where they were indentured as farm hands and servants to families in need of cheap labour. These little immigrants became known as ‘home children’.
Among them was Joseph Henry Hughes.
A wonderful memoir by Suzanne Jane Hughes. Well written, clear, and logically presented along with its fine backdrop of historic events. Replete with authentic letters, vintage photographs and details, carefully researched. It provides a window on this little-known period in Canadian history, as well as preserving the remarkable story of one family from its origins to the present day.

Announcing: Two Kinds of People, poems by Vincenzo Di Nicola
Published 2023-07-27 15:24 - (1626 Reads) -The book of poems TWO KINDS OF PEOPLE is published by Delere Press, with photo-illustrations by Arsinée Donoyan.
The following is an AFTERWORD commentary, The One Thousand Petals of Mille-Feuille by Stanzi Vaubel.
TWO KINDS OF PEOPLE begins at a crossroads. Faced with two possible paths, what kind of person are you? Choose your direction, left or right, because there are only two kinds of people. At the crossroads, you stand looking around, and as you do, the road begins to abstract itself, the clarity of this duality fading as the two paths fill with different shading, color, the layers becoming visible to you. Yet, you haven’t even taken a step, still frozen, between your two choices. Slowly, the stiffness turns into poise, as your awareness opens outwards, allowing you to take in the poetry of the moment . . .

Poems by Vincenzo Di Nicola
Published 2023-07-27 15:16 - (3871 Reads) -Chez Boris
Remembering Yevgeny Yevtushenko (1933-2017) … and the borscht at Chez Boris in Montreal's Mile End“In poetry and literature, I am among those people who believe that too much is indispensable. I, for example, do not like poems that resemble hay compressed into a geometrically perfect cube. I like it when the hay, unkempt, uncombed, with dry berries mixed in it, thrown together gaily and freely, bounces along atop some truck.”
“I write poetry, prose, and everything I do, I do on the principle of Russian borscht. You can throw everything into it — beets, carrots, cabbage, onions, everything you want. What’s important is the result, the taste of the borscht...”
